About me

Rallytime was purchased by myself in 1981 and the clocks used at that time were wharton digital clocks, These clocks are still in use today for road rallies and other events.

My experience over the last 32 years include supplying timing services to;

Castrol /Autosport National Rally Championship ( 1980's )

Shell Oils National Rally Championship ( 1990's )

Scottish International Rally ( 1990's )

BTRDA Rally events - too numerous to mention

Rally Scotland ( all 3 events that ran recently )

Pirelli Internatonal Rally

Isle of Man International Rally

Classic Car Events

Numerous Motorsport Events ( Non Rally )

In 1998 Omega Timing asked me to contribute to the development of their new "Powertime" timer. A number of functions were added to the clock's software for rally timing.

We then purchased a number of these clocks but found that they were not that easy to use by untrained personnel.

I

n 1999, I was introduced to a new type of clock. This was The ECM Rally timer and Rallytime was instrumental placing a substantial order for the first production run. Without this commitment, it is probable that ECM would not have gone into production !I

These clocks have been the most common to be used for rally timing since 1999. Although technology marches on, I think it will be some time before the next generation of timing clocks appear on events.
